Common questions
Short answers to what builders ask us most.
What value should I enter?
The completed value of the home: every dollar of materials and labor plus your profit and overhead. Don't include the land. Your premium is based on this number.
How is my price calculated?
Your premium is based on the completed value of the home. The amount on your quote is the premium for the term you selected.
What is a fire protection class?
It's a 1-to-10 rating of the local fire department and water supply, published by ISO. Class 1 is the strongest protection; class 10 means no recognized fire protection. We look it up from the project address.
When should I buy builders risk?
Before work starts on site. Many lenders require evidence of builders risk before the first draw, so it's best to quote as soon as you have an address and a budget.
Do I need an account?
Not to see your price. When you're ready to bind, we email you a sign-in link. Your account keeps every project, document and claim in one place, and your next quote is prefilled.
I already have an insurance agent. Can I still use BRW?
Yes. We work alongside agents. Choose "Insurance agent" on the last step if you're quoting for a client.
